Weddings

Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You're welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.

You can marry in St. Aidan's church if you can answer 'yes' to any of these:
That one of you:

  • live or have lived at any time in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • is on the church's electoral roll or
  • has regularly attended normal church services for a period of at least 6 months or
  • was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish

Or that one of your parents:

  • live or have lived at any time in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • has regularly attended normal church services for a period of at least 6 months or
  • was married in the parish

Or that one of your grandparents:

  • was married in the parish

As a first step, contact the churchwardens for a chat.  They'll arrange to get the church and minister booked for your wedding day.
